A Jewish man involved in a minor fender bender accident on Wednesday became the victim of a brutal hate crime assault.
The incident occurred near St Johns Place and Brooklyn Ave shortly after 5 PM when the driver of the other vehicle, without any warning or provocation, repeatedly punched the victim in his face and body and put his hands around the victim’s neck attempting to choke him. The perpetrator used anti-Semitic slurs during the assault.
The victim called Crown Heights Shmira to report the incident. Upon arrival, Shmira volunteers called the police department and Hatzalah. The victim suffered serious injuries and is being treated at a local hospital.
Shmira is assisting the victim to make sure the perpetrator is held responsible for the attack.

Antisemitic incidents are getting worse and are happening at a more frequent and rapid pace in the US , just last week in Los Angeles two Jews were injured by gunfire by an antisemite , Jewish secular and religious authorities seem totally overwhelmed and are as unprepared as Europeans Jewish communities just before ww2 nothing was learned!

I assure you this is more real and has been for countless years than the bulletins about some political group. This is the real reason we need to lock our doors and constantly be vigilant and have groups of volunteers putting themselves in danger to protect the community.
While it might help to have politicians and police and shmiras and shomrim (and mezuzas and say tehillim), don’t forgot to do what you can yourself, whether that means learning basic self defense, fighting back, protecting yourself, yelling if attacked, or carrying pepper spray… There’s a flawed notion that if you fight back you’ll anger the perpetrator and endanger yourself more. If you fight back you are doing what you can to defend yourself. Don’t go down silently.
But they have just outlawed pepper spray. Not everyone can fight back and they’ve just reduced their chances.
