700 Walk for Friendship in Los Angeles

What a spectacular day! The sun shone brightly as nearly 700 people joined together to celebrate children and young adults with diverse abilities at Friendship Circle of Los Angeles’ 13th annual Walk4Friendship and Street Festival.

Robertson Boulevard was closed off for the free event which was filled with music, entertainment, concessions, and so much more.

Rabbi Michy Rav-Noy, shliach of Friendship Circle LA, kicked off the walk with inspiring words of inclusion and unity, tying it into Hakhel. The excitement was palpable as Rabbi Michy led the way through the streets accompanied by drummers, a stilt walker, and a trackless train filled with FCLA participants. The community joined as one for a joyous walk through Beverlywood to make strides for friendship.

With a triumphant return, the walkers were greeted by none other than Yossi Rodal singing his famous song, “Proud Jew.” Festivities along the street continued into the evening filled with amazing attractions.

Endless smiles and laughter could be seen and heard from the Euro Bungee to the puppy party. There was something for everyone of all ages and abilities, namely obstacle courses, arcades, sensory tables, toddler play, a bouncing derby run, and a blaster zone!

The most beautiful part of today was the feeling of unity. Jews from all walks of life came out to support our participants, their families, and the vision of our Rebbe – “for every single neshama to be included in the Jewish community,” says Miriam Rav-Noy, Shlucha to FCLA.

Thanks to generous donations, FCLA raised nearly 267k, close to 75% of its goal. The critical funds will allow them to continue providing Jewish educational, social, and recreational programming for children and young adults of diverse abilities.
