A festive event was held in Jerusalem recently to celebrate the grand opening of ‘Bubbe Lieba’s Kitchen,’ a hospitality center and kitchen which will serve students in the city.
The Kitchen, in the center of Jerusalem near King George and Jaffa Streets, is named after Mrs. Lieba Groman obm, daughter of Rabbi Amram Blau obm, a beloved grandmother whose kitchen in her Mea Shearim apartment was open to all, 24 hours a day, where she provided food and help for anyone who needed. It was dedicated by R’ Dudi and Chani Farkash of Monsey, NY.
The new Kitchen will be under the leadership of Chabad Student Centers of Israel led by Rabbi Moshe Shilat and Rabbi Liraz Zeira, director of the Chabad Student Centers in Jerusalem.
It will serve students from throughout the area, providing a space to study, Mivtzoim, and will host Shiurim, programs and events. The kitchen will also provide meals for needy individuals, including Holocaust survivors, prepared by volunteer students.
Joining the ribbon-cutting event were author and scholar Rabbi Yekusiel Farkash, Shliach Rabbi Mordechai Farkash of Bellevue, WA, Rabbi Mendy Blau of Colel Chabad, and others.
Bubbe Lieba’s Kitchen in Jerusalem is one of many which have been established around the world, in locations such as Kfar Chabad, Thailand, Panama, Seattle, Cyprus, and others.
