An inauguration ceremony was held in the holy city of Tzfas for the new Bnot Yitzchak Center, donated by Michael and Bobbie Luxenberg in memory of their parents, R’ Yitzchak Yehuda Luxenberg and R’ Yitzchak Raskin, of blessed memory.
In attendance were the Luxenberg family, who flew in from the United States, along with Rabbi Sholom Duchman, Executive Director of the International Colel Chabad charity organization and their representatives in Israel, Rabbi Yosef Chitrik, Rabbi Mendi Blau and others.
Local participants included Chief Rabbi of Tzfas Shmuel Eliyahu, rov of the Chabad community of Tzfas Rabbi Mordechai Bistritzky, Shluchim, members of the city council, and employees of the new Beit Tzvi and Chaya Child and Family Center of Colel Chabad.
The Bnot Yitzchak Center is an empowerment center for girls from different schools in Tzfas who spend theircs, scholastic, religious, and Hassidic reinforcement, extracurricular activities, hot meals, discussion groups, volunteer projects for the benefit of various populations in the city and around the center, and much more.
Rabbi Yoram Mauda, director of Colel Chabad Tzfat, said the center’s motto is emphasizing happiness and encouraging the girls to engage in giving to others.
The center opened about 10 years ago in a damp shelter; now, the girls are finally able to enjoy the new, beautiful, and spacious center, he said as new mezuzahs were affixed and the sign was unveiled.
The multifaceted results of the center’s work leave a lasting impression on the girls, who later remember the years they spent at the center as years that provided them with a strong foundation upon which they built their adult lives.
This center joins the other initiatives of Colel Chabad Tzfas, including the new initiatives such as Beit Tzvi and Chaya, a gorgeous professional center for children and families featuring first-rate professionals, and the Maor Center for single mothers, which is in its final stages of construction and is scheduled to open soon.
