A yeshiva bachur was shot while standing Outside Yeshiva Toras Chaim, located on Stuart Avenue on Denver’s West Side on Tuesday night, Boro Park 24 reported.
The incident, which has shocked the Denver community, occurred at 11:30 pm Denver time.
The victim was transported to the hospital in serious condition, but soon passed away from injuries.
The Yeshiva is a renowned institution, and was the first satellite Lakewood Yeshiva to be founded outside Lakewood.
At this time, the shooter remains on the loose, and is being hunted by Denver police.
Denver police are investigating two other shootings in the area which occurred overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. They believe the shooting on Stuart Avenue was part of a larger crime spree which also included a carjacking and a robbery.
The victim has been identified as Shmuel (Shmuli) Silverberg obm, from Cleveland, Ohio. He was 19 years old.
The levaya took place in Denver and will continue Friday in Lakewood, NJ.
