Learning to listen

Thank you Shalom for sharing. We are all a work in progress. I have been working very hard on eye contact and really listening, and not blurting out what I think the other person is trying to say even with out any speech impediment. From reading what you wrote I wouldn’t in a million years think you had a speech impediment, your written text is so smooth and informative!!!
I truly enjoyed your article and have learned 3 very important points.

Asking people's permission
June 15, 2020 3:18 am

Interesting article Shalom. Being a person who stutters has certainly taught me patience, resilience, empathy and bravery. However, I suggest asking people if they don’t mind if you use a technique to help your speech is an indication of a trait many people who stutter exhibit. Passiveness and non-assertiveness. If you have a technique which helps you speak, use it! You don’t need to ask permission. If you do it as a means of disclosure, that’s a positive thing. Regards, Geoff
