An engineer in Vermont has created and developed a handcrafted Menorah, which will bring light to the world “twofold ways,” he says.
Engineer Chaim Herz, the creator and designer of the “Mettle Menorah,” says the inspiration behind the Menorah came after he created a Menorah for his grandchildren which ended in disappointment.
“2 years ago, I made a Menorah for my grandchildren of plastic soda bottles,” Herz explains in a video about the Mettle Menorah. “We filled it with candles and the children loved it. Until a few days into Chanukah, when they began to melt” from the nightly lighting, he explains.
So Herz created the Mettle Menorah, a handcrafted, unique Menorah of metal, which would be a treasured gift for his grandchildren, and one which they could light each night of Chanukah and it would remain strong and sturdy.
The Menorah will light the world in other ways as well, Herz says.
All proceeds from sales of the Mettle Menorah will benefit the education of young children at the Chabad Hebrew School in Burlington, Vermont, “a school where children learn Torah and Mitzvos, so we can continue in our tradition, and as a people,” Herz says.
“I could think of no better way to lighten up Chanukah than to use one of these. To remember our past but also to invest in our future – Jewish education,” Herz says.
The $180 Menorah works with both oil (adapters included) and Shabbat candles, and is a beautiful, unique handcrafted gift, perfect for family and friends.
