It was back to the roots for a group of 60 people who spent 5 days visiting the cradle of Chassidus in the Ukraine and the holy gravesites of its founders.
Organized by Gershon Chaimson, the group, traveling throughout the Ukraine on a double-decker bus, visited the resting places of the Baal Shem Tov in Mezebuzh, the Maggid in Anipoli, the Alter Rebbe in Hadich, the Miteler Rebbe in Niezhin, Reb Zusha of Anipoli, and Reb Levi Yitzchak of Berditschev.
The five-day trip was led by world renowned teacher Rabbi YY Jacobson who taught and farbrenged for hours upon hours throughout the journey.
On the bus and in the resting places, the group learned the teachings of each Rebbe they visited, and explored their lives, histories, stories about them, and the relevance of their teachings to our lives today.
“On the 10 hour journey from Mezebuzh to Haditch, we enjoyed a ten-hour farbrengen on the bus with Rabbi Jacobson, dedicated to explain the Banuni of the Tanya and how it can teach us how to educate our children today,” related one of the participants.
The group consisted of 12 shluchim, including the shliach to Perth, Australia, who flew 29 hours to join the trip. It also included community members from the US, and Israel.
Friday at dawn, 24 Teves, the yartzeit of the Alter Rebbe, the group arrived in Haditch, where they remained for Shabbos, near the resting place of the Alter Rebbe. According to the participants, it was a most amazing and eye-opening Shabbos, dedicated to the internalization of Chassidus in a real and authentic way.
Chaimson said he was most grateful to the philanthropic Rohr family for building a shul and mikvah near the Alter Rebbe’s gravesite. “It has enabled people to come there,” he said.
“Thank you for an incredible trip!” wrote one of the participants. “I truly enjoyed all the stories, in depth history and breathtaking farbrengens all throughout the time. You have truly generated in me and many others a thirst to know more of Chasidim/Chabad history and to learn more Chassidus.”

It amazes me to see ppl running of to Russia and are willing to spend a shabbos in haditch, but would never entertain the Toft of spending shabbos by the ohel. Our Rebbe is right here, and we don’t appreciate and take advantage. .
Why do,we need to spend thousands of dollars for this trip. We have all rabbeim in the rebbe right here In ny. The rebbe didn’t like this idea of traveling to kvorim
