On Tuesday, 3nd night of Chanukah, hundreds of people gathered outside SUNY Downstate campus in Brooklyn to witness the lighting of the Menorah by the Rav and Shliach of SUNY, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Holtzman.
Assistant Vice President of SUNY Downstate, Michael Harrell, Emceed the popular event, which every year draws hospital and university personnel, as well as Crown Heights Jewish families.
On the cherry picker, the well-known Cardiologist, Professor Dr. Jason Lazar, Chief of Non-invasive cardiology of SUNY Downstate, recited the Brochos before lighting the candles.
Addressing the crowd and giving their blessings were: N.Y. State Assemblyman Walter Mosley, Brooklyn’s Deputy Borough President, Diana Reyna and NYC Councilman Dr. Mathieu Eugene.
Afterwards Rabbi Chaim Fogelman uplifted the crowd with music and singing, as always, doing a wonderful job.
