Avremi hy”d was a special person. He was kind and caring and loved to learn. He shared his excitement for yiddishkeit with other children and helped them in any way possible. He always wanted to do what was right- a true Kabalas Olnik.
Avremi had so much “chein” and was loved by all; young and old alike. He was blessed with a beautiful voice and loved to sing. (His sweet voice was recorded on Eli Lipsker’s records) His last Friday night, at our family’s Shabbos table, he sang the song “Adir who boelyonim…” (You Hashem are the only true existence in the world) over and over again.
Mivtzaim of the Rebbe was a way of life for Avremi. On one such occasion, on a Friday afternoon, he met a man in Manhattan who shared with Avremi the wonderful news that his wife had given birth to a baby girl. Upon hearing this, Avremi encouraged him to give his daughter a Jewish name. The man finally agreed. Sunday evening Avremi went to a phone booth that was closest to yeshiva to make a call to the baby’s father and remind him to go to shul the next morning to give his daughter a Jewish name. Just then, three hooligans came and stabbed him mercilessly- for no reason other than because he was a Jew. That evening Avremi’s pure and holy Neshama was returned to its maker. He was 17 years old.
Following this terrible tragedy, our neighbors, Rabbi Eli and Leah Lipsker, Zoln zein Gezunt, wanted to do something to perpetuate Avremi’s memory. Under the directives and Brochos of the Rebbe, the Keren Avrohom Eliezer camp fund was immediately started. This fund helps children from financially struggling families enroll in summer camp. For the past 37 years, my parents, Rabbi and Mrs.M. Goldman zoln zein Gezunt joined together with the Lipskers and have helped over 6,750 children have the excitement of a wonderful and much needed summer experience.
Keren Avrohom Eliezer will be hosting a Chinese auction to raise funds to help send children to summer camp. The event will take place Sunday May 10th 2015 21 Iyar 5775 at the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva 570 Crown St at 7:30 P.M.

I read this and I felt very sad. You are a lovely sister, I can feel how much you loved your brother. I want to hug you and tell you that your brothers soul shines brighter because of all the things you have written here, and the love you have for him.
May his soul rest in peace.

how many children benefited from this camp fund over the last 37 years, kids that otherwise may have spent the summer void of Yiddishkeit, bored and on the street. What a merit for the nifter! but it’s dependent on people like you and me to donate….
Beautifully written Kreine
May Avremi ‘s neshoma have an Aliya .

we knew that your brother had passed away when he was young, but never knew how before … thanks for sharing … so sad and painful for your family … only Hashem knows why.
but what a great thing you are doing in his zchut!
such a special person. We should donate in his honor!
what year did this tragedy happen…so sad it was while he was doing a mitzvah.. Only Hashem has the answers.
Wow, so the Camp Fund that was started in Avremy’s memory is actually a direct continuation of his last Peulah – including its result of the little girl growing in her Yiddishkeit! As the Rebbe said regarding camp that ‘a child can grow more during a few weeks in camp that during his 10 months in Yeshiva!’ What a beautiful way for us to be able to continue in his Avodah!
When this baby girl grew up and learned about the history of her Jewish name, she decided to learn Torah. She became a Baalas Teshuva and currently lives in Eretz Yisroel with her family.
thats a sad story, but we could all learn somthing from this person
Thank you for sharing this, but what a sad story. What a wonderful way to honor the memory of a special bochur. May you go me’chayil el chayil and be able to help many more children, and may his neshama have an aliyah.
