U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is planning to visit Israel in the coming days, the 11th time in less than a year in his effort to push Israeli-Palestinian “peace talks.”
In response to the diplomatic pressure mounting on Israel and talks by Israeli political leaders of possible concessions, the Jewish public was asked to dedicate Thursday as a day of prayer and good deeds in merit of the Holy land.
The Badatz of Crown Heights has issued a letter calling on all to join the Yom Tefila called in Eretz Yisroel for Thursday, Erev Rosh Chodesh.
The Yom Tefilla has been called due to the ominous situation in Eretz Yisroel where the Israeli government is discussing and willing to give away parts of Eretz Yisroel, Rachmana Litzlon; which is a situation of real Pikuach Nefesh.
Specifically the Rabbonim have suggested that men, women and children (shuls, yeshivas, schools, private homes) increase in teffila (Tehilim chapters 20, 22, 69, 150); Tzedakah and hatchlotos tovos. (A list of suggested hachlotos suitable to the situation is mentioned in the footnotes to the letter). All this should be preferably done in public – btzibbur.
A suggestion has been made to give to Tzedaka the equivalent amount normally spent on food throughout an ordinary day. This is considered to be a reasonable substitute to fasting (in addition to other forms of “fasting” such as abstaining from unnecessary speech – taanis dibbur – etc.
All of this should be done in a joyful manner as befitting for the month of Adar.
They conclude with a fervent prayer that this will break the boundaries of Gauls and bring the rebuilding of the Beis Hamikdash immediately.
chasidus explains that when a person has a “will” and fullfils it, it gets bigger and you want it even more…
if you give them land they will want more and more…
That’s a nice, mellow way to brush off the problem. There are tens of thousands, (that’s right — TENS OF THOUSANDS) of Chareidim who deliberately milk the Israeli government and have no intention of ever returning the favor. Not only that, they are extremists who believe that they have the right to tell other people how to live, and try to enforce it by spitting on little innocent girls walking to school. The fact is that Israeli government is taking from the working class in Israel (and from U.S. funds) and giving a large chunk of it to the Chareidim… Read more »
Give away land, so we can make a deal, in which we give away more land, which gets us a better deal in which we give away more land, then we’ll give away more land, which gets us a better deal in which we give away more land, which…
It’s not a lost cause that you didn’t find out today. So say Tehillim and give tzedakah for Eretz Yisroel tomorrow. Hashem’s still listening.
giving away land is not helping the problem, its just making it a problem.( for example gaza)
seriously alot of us were told tooo late and some people dont have internet. i was in 770 and there were no postings in the womens shul. can we plz be told in a more timely manner
israel should just say NO for once.
You are placing a huge comprehensive label on an entire group- ‘Chareidim’- which includes millions of people, based on the actions of a small minority of people. Since the people who have ‘thrown stones’ are barely a fraction of the whole, this not a purely objective way of making such a severe generalization. As for milking the system, everyone has their own opinion about socialization of government benefits. Israel, like NY, has people who collect from the system as well as people with good jobs. It’s appropriate to keep in mind that jobs in Israel are scarce and people are… Read more »

But footnote #2 in the letter is the result of “Chareidim” milking the system and spitting in the face of the Israeli government.
The fact that they declared Chabad Shluchim as a public service shows that they are willing to work with the Frum community so long as the Frum community would be willing to serve their country and not just spit in their face and throw rocks at their cars.
Yaasher Koach,
Yaa-ric-hu Yo-mim Al Mam-lach-tom.
