Even if Carter did light the Menorah, he is still one of the biggest enemies of Israel in the world.

President Carter did not lose the white house before lighting the menorah in 1979. Carter lost to Reagan in the election of 1980 (Nov. 4 1980). Thus, the first comment above is a little off.

President carter came out to the menorah lighting after he lost the section to president Reagan so he did not do it for the Jewish vote which he would of gotten anyway

and who knows maybe this could be that the rebbe days beforetthe the swearing in of a new president thanked carter
