Friday night, shluchim of East Hampton, Leibel and Goldie Baumgarten, hosted a Shabbos meal and lecture in their home.
In attendance were many summer residents of the Hamptons, who are mostly from Manhattan and some members of the local Jewish community.
A special guest speaker in attendance was Rabbi Shais Taub, Creative Director of Jewish.TV and expert on addiction recovery, who came to inspire the guests and congregants.
Taub delivered a lecture at the Friday night meal on “Will the Real Chabad Please Stand Up?” which explains the significance of the upcoming 200th yahrzeit of the Alter Rebbe. “The name Chabad refers to the power of the intellect,” said Taub. “When we change our thinking, we change everything.”
On Shabbos day Taub delivered a sermon before Musaf on the subject of “Embracing the Story of Your Life.” Sunday morning, the Chabad House hosted a brunch where Taub spoke again, this time on the subject of “Today’s Geopolitical Scene and G-d’s Intent.”
In this lecture, Taub explained the significance of current political trends in the context of timeless spiritual truths. Several of those in attendance asked for a recording of the lecture so that they could listen again and explain it to others.
As one woman stated, “I have a PhD in philosophy and have studied all of the great minds, but the perspective outlined in this lecture gave me new clarity about the world we live in.”

Thank Hashem Rabbi Taub is there to impact a crowd with Chassidus that doesn’t need to be packaged with fairy tales and english words that have yet to be invented and jokes more stale than shmurah matza .He is a breath of real fresh air not the residue of an upset stomach
Rabbi Taub captures his audience with real stories that really happened and have a source. A sheliach reaches out with EMES to impact his audience . This is a great powerful combination and anything Rabbi Baumgarten does is saturated with emes and neshoma
I have heard about speakers coming to Chabad Houses and their interest is letting everyone know how well they speak . Rabbi T aub comes to the Chabad House exclusively to help the Shaliach and Shlucha . I wish every speaker could learn from him .
Rabbi Taub is the best speaker I have ever heard and his main thrust is to help the Shaliach he visits. I think all shluchim should bring him out and see for themselves exactly how talented he is!!!!!
RABBI bAUMGARTEN IS A SELFLESS SHALIACH WHO HELPS EVERYONE . RABBI TAUB HAS THE MOST TOCHEN AND EMESKEIT FROM ALL THE REGULAR SPEAKERS ON THE CIRCUIT – what a great combination and kiddush hashem .
