The Boys Division of the Friendship Circle met for a very special Melava Malka this past Motzei Shabbos, where they kicked off their week with a pre-Yud Tes Kislev Farbrengen.
With the theme of 70 Years to the Rebbe’s Hayom Yom, each boy got to paint their own ceramic frame, and place a copy of their birthday’s Hayom Yom to display at home.
While enjoying a hearty Melava Malka, the boys heard the story of the arrest and libration of the Alter Rebbe from FC Director, Berel Majesky followed by a beautiful story by Rabbi Dovid Sholom Pape about the greatness of the Baal Shem Tov and the power of Chasidus.
Spontaneous dancing and singing accompanied by a rendition of Sheyiboneh by the FC’s very own Yehudah Raichman, added the perfect touch to a most memorable and inspirational evening.
In other Frienship Circle news, after a very successful Yom Kipur Minyan, the FC has launched a monthly Minyan for older boys and young adults with special needs.
“The very first Minyan took place this past Shabbos, and the word ‘Inspirational’ doesn’t do justice to how the volunteers and I felt at the end of the Kiddush,” said Yossi Smoller, coordinator of the Boys Division.
“We had a boy who sits every Shabbos in a Shul in Crown Heights, lovable, friendly and outgoing, but I doubt anyone has thought of him as a Chazzan,” Smoller explains. “Well, we did, and sing he did! Other boys who rarely go to Shul, always feeling left out and ‘out of it’ now have a Shul to call home.”
Currently hosted once a month, the Friendship Circle hopes to be able to expand the Minyan to every Shabbos shortly.
The Minyan meets the third Shabbos of every month, the next Minyan will take place on Shabbos Parshas Vayechi.
Those who wish to sponsor a Kiddush may contact Yossi at YSmoller@FCBrooklyn.com.
The Friendship Circle would like to thank its partners and supporters without whom none of its programs would be possible.
