Lubavitch residents of Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood should not be alarmed when swarms of Satmar chassidim pack their streets one evening at the end of next week.
Thousands are expected to arrive next Motzoei Shabbos at the massive 42nd Infantry Division Support Command Armory for the annual Melave Malka benefit for the Satmar institutions led by the Satmar Rebbe – Reb Aaron.
The storage center for artillery and offices of the National Guard, located on Bedford Avenue between Union and President Streets, is also used as a movie set.
In 2010, the armory went through an extreme makeover, transformed into an elegant ballroom for the fully catered sit-down dinner of the gala banquet of the 5770 Kinus Hashluchim convention, attended by Chabad rabbis and supporters.
A year later, Chabad held its Kinus Hashluchos gala banquet, for Chabad rebbetzins and supporters, at the same location as well.
Satmar sources told COLlive.com they are expecting over 10,000 people.
Askanim for the Satmar community and police liaisons in the Jewish community R’ Moishe Indig and R’ Yoel Eisdorfer met this week with Brooklyn South Police Chief Thomas Chan, 71st precinct Commanding Officer Peter Simonetti and others to discuss security and logistics.
They were joined by R’ Chanina Sperlin, intergovernmental liaison for the Crown Heights Jewish Community Council, whose network of connections and contacts came in handy for the Satmar community.
Mimenu Yiru V’chein Ya’asu.
I believe that it is fair to say that there exisst today a more cordial yachas between Lubavitch and Satmar than we enjoy with many other chassideshe chatzeiros.
I am glad to see that people are taking the time to express good will here in a public forum.
new pictures will be good to see
since when is bedford between Union and President considered CH? Like CHers shouldn’t be alarmed when they see them…? why would anyone see them if they’re on bedford???
I belong to the Satmar Rebbe Reb Zalmen Leib Shlita.
I am happy that Crown Heights Asken Rabbi Sperlin was helping the chasidim of Reb Aharon. After all we are “ONE KLLAL YISROEL” and have one thing that we all can agree on “Lehrumas Kvod Shomayim”.
I heard from many askonim in Williamsburg that Rabbi Sperlin continues to help all people from all neighborhoods.
(Also, Kislev in a Yom Tov for Lubavitch (Yud-Tes) and for Satmar Chof-Alef).
“Barchenie Ovinie Kilunie Kechod”
have you ever seen pictures of their tishen they only stand packed tightly and and dont sit on benches let alone comfortably around tables
and its wonderful to see.
AGAIN, Reb Chanina Sperlin, GREAT JOB.
Chanina has very good connections to Reb Aaron שליט”א
Others, have good relations with Reb Zalmen Leib שליט”א
אלו ואלו דברי אלוקים חיים
I don’t believe the place holds 10,000 people, unless they’ll be standing really packed tightly. It would not fit 5,000 people for the Kinnus, sitting comfortably around round tables. I also wonder about restrooms…
Just a word from the wise to the wise – do NOT move your car Motzoei Shabbos, or you won’t find parking all night…
TODAY THE CONNECTION BETWEEN LUBAVITCH AND SATMAR(ESPECIALY R’ AHRON’S CHASSIDIM) IS VERY DIFERENT THAN THE TEKUFA OF THE LAMEDS AND MEMS.
the rebbi wanted CH and we dont listen.
its to mark their chag hageula on 21st kislev of the satmar rebbe from concentration camp….ruimour has it it took place on yud tes but that was too much to stomach so they moved it 2 days.
They are celebrating a commemoration (or סעודת הודאה) for the old satmar rabbi reb joel which at that time had escaped from the nazis during the world war two and on the same way they are raising money for their schools so it’s actually also a dinner
only happy occasions
why not 🙂 sounds great!
