The regular group of congregants of The Shul – Lubavitch Center in Washington, DC – which includes rabbis, dignitaries, academics, Congressional staffers, students, and community leaders – spent the morning with a special guest.
Chief Rabbi of Israel Yona Metzger joined them for Shachris services, followed by a breakfast, hosted by Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Executive Vice President of American Friends of Lubavitch.
The Chief Rabbi spoke about this week’s Torah portion and its focus on the service of Aaron in the times of the holy service in the Tabernacle and its relevance to our times.
He was presented with a special leather-bound edition of the Book of Esther (megillah) in honor of the upcoming festival of Purim, custom produced by Chabad-Lubavitch of Northern Virginia.
The Chief Rabbi was in town as part of a delegation representing Israel in a multiultural/religious forum.
Rabbi Levi Shemtov is a true inspiration to all of us shluchim, i had the zchus to be at the living legacy event 2 years ago and i can say the work and passion this guy puts into his shlichus the fact that he can do what he does and not be nispoel from whats around him, to dohis shlichus with a chassidishe varmkeit, lchatchila aribier is something that myself as a shliach look up to.
The Rebbe definitely chose the right guy to put in Washington!
Rabbi Levi Shemtov is an amazing shliach always making a kiddush hashem and kiddush lubavitch! As a younger Shliach in the east coast he is someone who i always look up to as a man who gets the Rebbe’s job done.
Levi keep up the good work! the Rebbe is proud!
