Last week United Lubavitcher Yeshiva in Crown Heights highlighted the learning of Tanya Bal Peh and the exhibition of Tanyas from around the world to mark and honor the 200th anniversary Yahrezeit of the Alter Rebbe.
Among the display was a collection of 101 leather-bound Tanyas from every city in New Jersey, printed through the efforts of the Bris Avrohom Center in Hillside, NJ.
The program of learning Tanya Bal Peh was sponsored by Rabbi Mordechai and Mrs. Shterney Kanelsky of Bris Avrohom, under the auspices of the Bas Sheva Mitzvah Campaign to Greet Moshiach which they launched nine years ago in loving memory of their beloved daughter, Bat Sheva ob”m.
The program recognizes boys who learn Tanya Bal Peh and rewards them with a colorful, personalized, laminated certificate, as well as a monetary stipend. In the past nine years, thousands of boys have participated in this program and earned well deserved gifts for their efforts.
At the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva event, Rabbi and Mrs. Kanelsky rewarded every boy who participated with a monetary stipend and presented each with a certificate. Rabbi Yossi Simpson, Principal of the Yeshiva, encouraged the children to continue learning Tanya Bal Peh, especially in the summer months when they are not in school. Rabbi Kanelsky thanked Rabbi Simpson, and his staff, for their encouragement with this program. This year, over 160 boys earned prizes and certificates, a record number of participants in this program. After the awards were handed out, the Kanelskys treated the entire school to multi-colored cupcakes decorated with the letter Taf, for Tanya.
Rabbi Zwiebe
Lets not forget Rabbi Zwiebel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He’s the one that helps his class learn so many lines of Tanya Baal Peh! What would 4th grade be without him!!!!
Let’s give him credit!!!
A highlight of the event was the beautiful museum-style display of “Tanyas From Around The World.” To emphasize to the talmidim the fundamental importance of the sefer haTanya, students were encouraged to bring in Tanyas which have been printed in different locations around the globe which were labeled with the child’s name and set on display. Rabbi Kanelsky distributed certificates and $2 bills to participants of the Tanya baal peh campaign
