Over 300 friends and supporters of Chabad of Western Monmouth County gathered for its gala banquet celebrating 25 years of dedicated service of Shlichus at the Heldrich in New Brunswick, NJ.
“Inspiring Generations” was the theme for the event, which honored several extraordinary people who helped make Chabad’s programs and activities a reality. Chabad recognized Manalapan Mayor Susan and Eli Cohen, Manalapan, NJ; Cheryl and Dr. Scott Metzger, Marlboro, NJ; and Bella and Simon Zelingher, Morganville, NJ. A memorial tribute was held in memory of Audrey Strumeier OBM by her husband Mr. Jeffrey Strumeier.
By reaching out to more than 10,000 people in Western Monmouth County through a wide variety of educational programs, children’s programs, Shabbat and holiday services, and social events, Chabad has inspired multiple generations with the joy of Judaism and Jewish learning.
The Gala premiered three powerful “Miracles in Monmouth” presentations highlighting Chabad’s inspiring effect on three Generations: Youth, Adults/Families and seniors. Segment #1 titled “Transforming Teenage lives” highlights Chabad effect on youth. Segment #2 titled “Healing Broken Hearts” highlights Chabad’s effect on families. Segment #3 titled “Calm After The Storm” highlighted Chabad’s effect on Seniors.
Founded in 1986, with the arrival of Rabbi Boruch Chazanow and his wife Tova as shluchim of the Rebbe, Chabad made its mission to inspire personal growth through the teachings of Torah and Chassidus and experiencing Jewish life through the observance of Mitzvos.
With the dedication of the Shluchim and Shluchos who joined over the past 25 years, Chabad established the well-known Gan Izzzy Manalapan/Marlboro Day Camp under the direction of Rabbi Avrohom Bernstein, the Beis Menachem Semicha Program under the direction of Rabbi Levi Schapiro, the Friendship Circle under the direction of Mrs. Chanale Wolosow and Mrs. Mushkie Volovick, as well as the Benjamin Rosenberg Center For Jewish studies under the direction of Rabbi Levi Wolosow. The community Chabad Hebrew School in Marlboro is directed by Rabbi Shmuly Volovick.
Satellite Chabad Houses were also opened in Freehold, NJ under the direction of Rabbi Avrohom and Zisi Bernstein, in Toms River, NJ, under the direction of Rabbi Moshe and Chanie Gourarie, and in Holmdel, NJ under the direction of Rabbi Shmaya and Rochie Galperin.
