Chinuch Yaldei Hashluchim, a division of The Shluchim Office, is gearing up for the world’s first Lag B’omer parade to be held entirely online.
“Here at CYH, we like to ensure that no child ever feels like he or she is missing out on anything by being on Shlichus,” says Chanale Weisz, director of the division. “So far our online birthday farbrengens, birthday packages, hachanas, clubs and rallies have all helped ensure that children of shluchim never feel alone. We are taking it to the next step now by giving the children a parade they will never forget!”
Different families of Shluchim worldwide have signed up to create virtual floats for the parade, all of which are themed on and around the Ten Point Mivtzah Campaign.
And the Shluchim are investing a great deal of hard work and creativity into their floats – some are being drawn, others are being baked or built depending on what the family comes up with! And due to popular demand, many Hebrew Schools have signed up for the virtual parade as well; we have different grades working on floats of their own. So many volunteered to create floats that additional categories had to be added and our virtual parade lengthened.
The 5th and 6th Grades of the Nigri International Shluchim Online School, who will be presenting the Marching Band and clown entertainers, are working hard perfecting their skills.
We are really excited for what is sure to be a memorable event, and as you can see from screenshots of discussions taking place on “Mini Messengers,” the moderated Yaldei Hashluchim version of Facebook, the children are getting excited too.

I am a teacher in the online school, and I have to say, i was a bit questioning at first, as to how much you can really do with the students online. But I was was fortunately in for a surprise when I observed some fantastic teachers and began using the program myself, and most of all watching the Online Rallies and all the amazing after school programs that the school puts up! I love teaching in Online School and watching the Chayus that the students have in coming to school each day! Keep it up!

Sounds good to me. But wouldn’t such a program be ASUR by the Kinus of No Internet?
Bnei Brak will hate Lubavitch for the Parade, and Lakewood because of the Internet.
