As part of their training in practical rabbinics, the students of Yeshiva Beis Menachem of Manalapan toured a local mikvah for a hands-on learning session.
The smicha program is part of Chabad of Western Monmouth County in New Jersey under the direction of the Shliach Rabbi Boruch Chazanow and Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Levi Schapiro.
At the mikvah, the bochurim where able to see the different techniques used to build a kosher Mikvah and see firsthand the “behind-the-scenes” of a constructing Mikvah.
The entire process, beginning from the roof where the rain water is collected, to the Bor Tevila inside, was explained to them by Rabbi Nosson Schachter, an expert in construction of Mikvaos.
Other hands-on experience of Halacha included recently the participation in a Beis Din to administer Gittin.
