A precious U.S. dollar bill that was received from the Rebbe was found in the cash register of the Kol Tuv Grocery in Crown Heights.
Yossi Michaelashvili, a store clerk, said he thinks one of the customers inadvertently paid with this dollar.
Known as the ‘Sunday Dollars’, the Rebbe would hand out on crisp dollar bills to men, women and children on Sundays, from all walks of life, Jews and non Jews, for them to give its value to charity and keep the bill as a blessing.
On top of the bill is marked in Hebrew, as many Lubavitchers often did to document when it was received, “BS”D, 17 Adar 5751, in a good and successful hour, Fruma Liba Capland.”
A year after that date, on the 27th of Adar I, 5752, the Rebbe suffered a disabling stroke while praying at the Ohel gravesite of the previous Lubavitcher Rebbe.
“I really hope that with this publicity, the special dollar will be returned to its owner,” Michaelashvili told COLlive.
