The 19th annual Family Day Picnic, organized by the NYPD 71st Precinct, was held Sunday at the Hamilton Metz Park – Lefferts Park in Crown Heights.
Jewish and black residents of the neighborhood came and enjoyed free entertainment, fun for the whole family, rides and activities, Kosher food and beverages.
It began with a parade and marching band and continued for hours with all having a good time. Children (and adults) got to chat and snap photos with NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, 71st Precinct Chief John Lewis and other officers.
The family events aims to better relations and communication between the police department and the residents.

I dont understand why the crown heights website which is “col live” dont let people know in advance about such a nice day, outing for family and kids, and having bbq.??? why they dont let us know about it? they only let us know after the event happened. what is the purpose of it???people who are busy with kids, dont hear about such event. at least let them know by advertising in collive. please & thank you.

What’s this B.S “Jewish Black community” thing? didn’t the REBBE clearly say “one community” ? its embarrassing and silly that we need a corrupt police station to make a carnival for us, let them take care of the non stop crime and fear in the neighborhood, and when we are living a higher quality of life I will have time for BBQ’s.
