The 2011 playoffs for the Crown Heights softball league begin tomorrow, Tuesday, September 12, at 7:30 pm in the St. Johns Rec softball field on the corner of Troy Avenue and Bergen Street.
The teams in the playoffs are The COLlive Tribe, which is in first place, and The Landmark Funding Red Hiefers, The Yaffa Wigs Madd Hatters and The Daily Steals Kloppers.
Game 1: September 12th at 7:30 pm the Tribe VS the Kloppers
Game 2: September 12th at 9:00 pm The Red Heifers VS the Hatters

I agree with you that there are great places in Crown Heights that focus on Torah learning. I have to disagree with you that being on a sports team in Crown Heights is the reason for drop outs in our schools. If the yeshivahs focused more on the children and their likes and dislikes, there would be less kids dropping out. Sports is healthy and interesting. Nevertheless, we should focus more on the Torah accomplishments of Crown Heights. There are great places for study like Yagdil Torah and Beis Hamidrash. Pleople organize shiurim large and small in homes. Chavrusos in Shuls. It would be interesting to see random photos of Torah learning in the community. Some done by prominent business people who can be role models for other Balei Batim.
Especially, that we want our children to see how Torah is a priority and that will inspire them to achive in Yeshiva and ultimately diminish the dropout rate.
