Satmar Rebbe Hosts Rosh Kollel

The Satmar Rebbe, R’ Zalman Leib Teitelbaum hosted the known Chabad mashpia Rabbi Yosef Tzvi Segal in his home in the Williamsburg section in Brooklyn.

This was the third time he met with Rabbi Segal, Rosh Kollel “Tzemach Tzedek” in the old city of Jerusalem and a maggid shiur noted for the breadth and depth of his knowledge, and his warm and generous personality.

Rabbi Segal was accompanied by businessman R’ Shlomo Drimmer, activist R’ Eli Slavin and Rabbi Noach Fox, a member of Agudas Harabonim who was an unofficial liaison between the Rebbe and charedi rabbis.

The purpose of the visit was to wish the Satmar Rebbe a Mazal Tov on the engagement of his grandchild this week.

“This is the third time we are meeting,” the Satmar Rebbe told Rabbi Segal, after warmly greeting him. “Three times is a chazakah for good things.”

Rabbi Segal reviewed a point from a Chassidic discourse in Likutei Torah said by the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, the first Lubavitcher Rebbe.

Rabbi Fox presented the Satmar Rebbe with a copy of the newly released annotated and edited “Toras Shalom – Shaalot U’Tshuvot,” halachic responsa and commentary by Rabbi Shalom Dovber Schneersohn (the Rashab), the fifth Lubavitcher Rebbe.

“Thank you,” replied the Satmar Rebbe, “I look forward to reviewing it in the proper setting.”
