Stunning Exhibit in Melbourne

Excitement filled the air as close to 1000 people attended an exhibition at Yeshivas Oholei Yosef Yitzchok in Melbourne. The Torah came to life as guests were amazed by the beautiful and realistic exhibits.

Guests entered the Werdiger Hall and found themselves in a lush and verdant “Gan Eden” created by the Prep class and Morah Rivkie Karnowski and Morah Lauren. They moved on to an awe inspiring Aharon Cohen Godol surrounded by the “Klei Hamishkon” created by Grade Five and Rabbi Serebryanski. Grade Six with Rabbi Gordon hand painted the Degel of each Shevet and created a scale model of the Machane in the Midbar along with Birkas Yaakov.

Guests could be excused for feeling sleepy when encountering Yosef Hatzaddik fast asleep surrounded by his dreams and a timeline of the events in his life with scale models, created by Grade Five with Rabi Rosenfeld and Rabbi Abenaim.

Still more dreaming was in store with Yaakov Ovinu, fast asleep on a rock with a glittery twenty foot ladder reaching almost “to the heavens”. Rabbi Serebryanski and his Grade Four boys really enjoyed all the measuring, cutting and building.

A Mizbeach and life size ram formed the Akeidas Yitzchok exhibit together with ten large beautiful collage murals displaying the tests of Avrohom, were the creation of Grade Three with Mrs Serebryanski.

Guests were welcomed by Avrohom Ovinu into his four door tent. Rabbi Lesches with Grade Three built and outfitted the tent with cloud, candles Challah and three Malochim.

Grade Two with Mrs Scheiner created the life of Dovid Hamelech, complete with a very regal Dovid surrounded by models of the events in his life.
Moshe Rabbeinu stood, staff raised, as guests could walk through the split “Yam Suff”. Mrs Cohen with Grade One created this fantastic tangible experience.

Shiur Gimmel Mesivtah researched and created a beautiful exhibit of the Nesiey Chabad.

Everyone was tempted to rescue Baby Moshe from the River Nile even though Miriam was watching from the Reeds. Grade One with Mrs Glick’s exhibit shone and sparkled.

Noach was watching as the animals went two by two and seven by seven for Kosher into the Teivah.

Grade Two with Mrs Lesches and Mrs Vallins created a Teivah with every detail inside. This was an ecologically friendly exhibit with many of the details made from recycled products!

The sound of running water drew everyone to the Prep exhibit where guests were awed by the waterfall dripping onto a rock. Morah Sue Ash and Prep created the story of Rabbi Akiva complete with a rock with a hole.

In the centre of the hall was the “piece de resistance”! Rabbi Cohen and Grade Four created a towering thirty foot high Har Sinai, complete with Thunder and Lightning. Just like the original, this Har Sinai was surrounded by smoke.

This tremendous event was a celebration of music, learning and art.
Rabbi Smukler welcomed the guests. Akiva Vallins played “Shamil Niggun” on the Clarinet and the Primary ensemble played two Niggunim, led by Mrs Vallins.

Rabbi Smukler thanked Mrs Chana Serebryanski for producing this wonderful exhibition and for her vision, creativity and cheerful, hands on support, working with the students and staff to make this exhibition the sensational experience it was.
