A group of ambitious 14 year-old Lubavitcher Yeshiva students in Crown Heights requested more learning and The Beis Medrash is accommodating them with an after-hours Chassidus shiur twice a week.
“B”H we learn a ton of stuff in school, but they don’t start teaching Chassidus until mesivta and we didn’t want to wait till then,” said one student.
So they approached Rabbi Motty Lipskier, Director of The Beis Medrash with the problem. He offered to host a Chassidus class for them every Monday and Thurday night from 7-8 PM, if the boys would help raise the money needed to cover costs.
“It’s a fantastic thing that these boys are looking for more learning in addition to the mandatory hours,” says Rabbi Lipskier. “Their Yeshiva and teachers (Rabbi Schanowitz and Rabbi Brownstein) are obviously instilling the right values.”
The boys collected enough money to pay the maagid shiur, Mendel Gurevitz, and buy refreshments for the next 4 weeks.
To help them continue to cover their costs you can make a donation (and write “ULY Shiur” in the notes) or email thebeismedrash@gmail.com with your pledge and the boys will come pick it up.
This is great & encouraging. These Bochurim are part of our future & despite probably never having seen the Rebbe in person they are providing great Nachas to the Rebbe , their parents & a great example to all. Keep it up!
Kudos to the organizer. Go Jakey!
Why don’t they teach Chassidus till age 15 as it seems from the article?? They should start learning it at 13, thats when I started and I really needed it, maybe I was a little early but that is when I started to shape my life and make important decisions. If I hadn’t started at 13 I don’t know if I would be the same person today.
This is so impressive.
So heartening to know that our bochurim have a love, even an interest! in Chassidus!
Go Beis Medrash- catering to so many learning types and ages!
you’ve got a great yeshiva going with all the right haskofos… these boys are proving it!
The world demanding better/more of their leadership, yeshiva boys wanting to learn more – raising the money for it, etc. – MOSHIACH is soon, keep it up everyone!
