Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv and Chairman of Yad Vashem, was in Bulgaria this week for an international conference titled “Religion in service of mankind.”
He was one of the lead participants alongside clergymen and theologians from Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Russia, Georgia, Albania and Croatia.
Notwithstanding the discussions about religious and ethnic peace at Sofia’s Sheraton Hotel Balkan, Rabbi Lau made it a point to visit the local Chabad House and meet its members.
He was warmly welcomed at the Rohr Jewish Community Center – Chabad by the Shliach Rabbi Yosef Solomon and key supporters. Rabbi Lau heard about the activities and program and proceeded to give a shiur, recalling his memories of the Rebbe.
Rabbi Solomon is glowing! And Rabbi Lau looks really impressed.
