Despite setbacks due to Hurricane Sandy, Safety Kid workshops have gradually been rescheduled, and their aim is to have the classroom presentations take place by winter’s end, organizers said.
Over 100 of our local rebbeim and over 400 teachers have received training thus far. As well, all of the local school principles have received information about how to make school a safe environment for students and staff. Over 1,000 parents attended our two filled to capacity workshops. Parents walked out with priceless knowledge and practical tips to strengthen the safety of their children.
At this point in the program, they will be finishing up the most important component: training Parent Safety Kid Educators who will be going into the classrooms to give over the ABC’s of Safety in a positive, easy and educational way. (This training was supposed to have been completed in October but due to the Hurricane, it was unfortunately pushed off.) That training is planned for January 7th, -8th -Chof Daled-Chof Hey Teves.
“Our goal is that every class from grades Nursery through Fourth, in the participating schools, will receive the safety training presentation by Pesach the latest,” one of the organizers told COLlive. “The day your child has the presentation they will come home with a special safety kit and a note informing parents what they have learned. Please take the time to discuss with your child what they will bring home. When you show interest, the children will know that you want them to practice the safety rules.”
Due to many requests, a 3rd parent Safety lecture has been organized for those that were unable to attend the previous evenings. It will take place Monday, January 7th, 2013 at Bais Rivkah Lefferts Avenue.
The Crown Heights Parent Safety Alliance thanks to our schools, parents and the entire community for their support.
Will there be a presentation in the SCHOOL for the kids?
it only goes till fourth grade cuz this is where aleinu is up to in the development of this much needed curriculum
they asked that anyone interested in helping with future curriculum developments especially financially should get in touch with them
I’m wondering why it goes only up to fourth grade. Our older children also need to be educated about safety. And the teenagers – boys and girl counselors need to attend workshops as well, after all, we’ll be entrusting our children to their care in the summer.
hopefully they will address all aspects of safety not just abuse
