As the kosher traveler grows ever more discerning, the demand for meals that meet the highest standards of traditional kashrus, even without compromising on freshness, aesthetics and taste, is constantly on the increase. As such, the recent launch of a new dimension in Kosher airline food, HamasbiaCanada, has been greeted with satisfaction by discriminating Kosher consumers.
The new venture brings together Cara Airline Solutions, one of North America’s largest airline caterers, based in Toronto, and Hamasbia Foods of Israel.
Hamasbia brings their experience, expertise and familiarity with the Kosher market to Cara’s state-of-the art culinary facility in Toronto, where meals will be prepared under exclusive MK Mehadrin certification.
The MK (Montreal Kosher) certification has become synonymous with the highest level of Kashrus, recognized throughout the Kosher world. Hamasbia Canada joins the other international brands as part of the MK family.
Hamasbia Foods of Israel is world renowned for their quality meals which are manufactured to the highest standards of Kashrus, whilst bearing the prestigious certification of the Badatz Eida Hachareidus in Yerushalayim.
Over the past few days, a team of Rabbis, engineers, as well as food and design professionals have been working assiduously to ensure that this new label will satisfy the high expectations of the airline clientele. The menu plans include meat, dairy, pareve and fish options, each one prepared with the sensitivities and values of the Kosher consumer in mind.
The MK is enthusiastic about entering into this project with Cara Airline Solutions & Hamasbia Canada, who have already proven their sincerity and commitment to the Kosher consumer.
The MK’s Rabbanim, led by Rabbi Weiss, the Av Beth Din, Rabbi Lerner, the Belzer Dayan, Rabbi Posen and Rabbi Bell travelled to Toronto, to work hand in hand with company representatives in overseeing the detailed process of establishing a magnificent and well-run Mehadrin Kosher kitchen. The Rabbanim were most impressed by the efficiency and competence of Cara and Hamasbia staff, who invested the extraordinary effort and time in the process.
HamasbiaCanada will be the Kosher food choice for travelers on many airlines, including El Al and all Air Canada flights departing from Eastern Canadian airports, with the MK Mehadrin stamp meeting the standards of the highest common denominator in Kosher consumers. This exciting new development opens the door to many other joint ventures, including Kosher food outlets certified by the MK in Canadian airports.
You spread false information. I don’t know what your agenda is. The most troubling lie you wrote is that the MK only gives a hechsher on cholov yisroel. THAT IS A LIE!!! Indeed, a dangerous lie, as some people may believe you. An example of the thousands of MK products that are NOT cholov yisroel can be found on the MK website: http://www.mk.ca/searchpage.php?page=56 Nutritional Supplements – Balance: not cholov yisroel, Enlive – not cholov yisroel…Ensure…Envion…L.A. Weight Loss etc. etc. all not cholov yisroel. Plus literally THOUSANDS of MK products that are dairy and NOT cholov yisroel. You posted lies that… Read more »
To # 1 and 2 I know the Mashgiach who works there. He switched fro COR to work for MK. So it is just as reliable. COR in the last few years has been run by people who are just destroying the Kashrus industry. I think is a good thing that MK is giving the Hechsher and caving into COR blackmail for monopolizing the hechsher in Ontario. MK is more trust worthy. They only give hechsher on cholov Yisroel where COR gives Cholov Acum. There are several instances that I have seen problems with Cholov Acum and Cholov Yoisroel in… Read more »
THEY ARE ANYWAYS NOT EDIBLE. SO WHY WASTE ALL THE ENERGY???
I also agree that Rabbi Bell is very reliable yet the question why cor took of the hechsher is quite puzzling. As for The rest of the administrators of the vaad Hair of Montreal, well, they like their pockets overflowing…
Hamasbia asked to work with the MK because they did not trust the COR. as a reaction COR pulled their hechsher from the Cara kitchen.
Rabbi Bell is a man of high integrity and would not compromise on any kashrus issue. I do not think it is fair to make statements without knowing the inside story properly. This is the type of thinking that holds back the geulah: making one hechsher look good and questioning another one. If there is a mashgiach on premises all the time, who cares if the place is next to a treif place? So many simcha events take place in hotels that are treif and the kitchens are kashered. And here it is a separate kitchen! a totally kosher facility.… Read more »
cheer up oter ppl wgho dont have this plane meals commbined with seasicknes usualy makes you throw up
i think all hechsharim should be non-profit.
Toronto has the COR, a highly regarded hechsher with very strict standards.
Cara refused to meet the high standards of the COR and was denied that hechsher.
Instead they went “hechsher shopping” out of town and found the MK would allow certain kashrut things that the COR wouldn’t tolerate.
It is troubling when a Toronto company does not get a Toronto local hechsher for legitimate and needs to bring in an outside hechsher from Montreal!!
Cara is the largest treif company in Canada. The kosher kitchen is attached to tryeif kitchen. The only reason MK of montreal give a Hechsher is because COR of Toronto removed the Hechsher. Lot of kashrus issues and of course politics
