Contender:
Avremel Blesofsky, 33, married with children.
Residence:
Fanwood, NJ.
Occupation:
Shliach of the Rebbe and co-Director of Chabad of Union County.
Musical Aspirations:
Musicians and singers often feel like music is not something you like, its something you need. Chassidim aspire to strengthen ‘avoidas Hashem’ and to learn more Torah.
Reality Check:
Chabad niggunim are not just sung, they are experienced. They’re in a class of their own. Knowing and singing them correctly and authentically is a responsibility we Chassidim carry. We’re inundated with chassidic pop and its Yeshivish kvetcheray that it has influenced the way we sing Chabad’skeh niggunim.
Favorite Singer:
My brother Burouch Sholom Blesofsky.
Favorite Song:
Rebbi Feitel Levin’s Shuvah, written in Honor of the Rebbe’s birthday.
A Jewish Star:
With the Aibeshter’s help, the competition will raise awareness about Soul-to-Soul and help them generate lots of funds.

AVREMEL BLESOFSKY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
does this guy have any connection to Nikolaiv b/c he sings it mamesh like a true Nikolaiver (without the rasp) oh where do we find more of these caliber singers ? if someone’s out there please show yourself this is Negineh B’taharosoh.
keep it up. for sure the nicest voice from the entire contest.
Avremel, you bring back good memoreis from times here in Aussie. Remember the good old days when you sang, evveryone loved it. Continue to sing away……
For the first time (after hearing much ado) I’ve started keeping track of jewishstar.com I firmly believe Rabbi B from NJ will win. My opinion – voters ages 30 and up will vote for ABLESOFSKY and voters under 30 will vote for BSBLESOFSKY
Avremal, you don’t surprise me. Just as good as I remember you in Yeshiva.
ITS “BLESOFSKY”
Go Bisovski!
How about a duet performance by A and BS – now I bet that would take the cake, hands down, no doubt!
BS….You nephew..Avremels son looks just like you when u were younger!!
You got it right. This guy and Choni Grunblatt have it. They are the two that you can just play their video and have the biggest joy and peace with their voices again and again and yet again and still love it every time more. Good luck to both.
you are the best you relly have
a good voice we all love u
Avraham Shabsie HaKohen Friedman. His in-laws (the Krasnjanskis) live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When the Friedmans visit Philadelphia for yomtov, the Lubavitcher Center (Rabbi Avraham Shemtov’s shul) has the honor of having “Avraham Fried” and his sons “duchen” for the oilam.
As a recording studio technician I hear many different vocalists all the just a bout every day. I must say this one is one of high quality, very professional classical sounding but the popular style warmth is there as well (probably a Spinto Tenor).
he is the best!!!
blesofskys rock
Is Avraham Fried’s second name Shabsie?
Philly?
I collect all Chanukah recordings I can get my hands on (it’a long story) I’ve heard bad-so so-good-very good superb and this niggun is the best I’ve heard so far and this guy sings quite well.
There was a chazan in Riverdale with the same last name, are they related ?
Finally, an authentic, original lubavitcher nigun recorded beautifully with originality. Thank you.
Amazing that in one family, a beautiful talent KA”H, someon told me that the Blesofskys are baalei neginah. HERE It is, truly clearlly, unreal. Keep it up. BS’s got one style and AVremul another. Not sure which one i like better? THeir both good just different types of songs i guess. Go BS and Avremul Hakohanim Belosofsky.
very very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I actually like this one best. In my opinion it’s between this guy and Grunblatt.
Yes, it’s a Chabad song that was popular in Nikolayev. This niggun can be found on the Lubavitch Nigunim double CD by R’ Shmuel Betzalel Althaus. Judging by Avremel’s taam in singing this nigun, that’s where he heard it as well. He does a great job keeping the authentic taam of R’ S.B.A. even amidst the twists and the modification of the nigun (added bridges). You can find the above mentioned CD at http://www.kehot.com search keyword “althaus”.

heartwarming and an exceptionally beautiful voice.
Avremel sings like a Lubavitcher with all the Lubavitche schtick. At the same time he has a very warm and exciting voice that appeals to the general public.
