Update: Wednesday, 12:05 am:
Hundreds are still gathered in Boro Park, continuing to search through the night for Leibby Kletzky. A command post has been set up in Flatbush as well.
Latest footage released by the NYPD shows Leibby possibly talking to a male, and FOX5 is reporting the police believe the child may possibly have gotten into that man’s car, a gold sedan. The man is not yet a suspect but police would like to identify him.
The surveillance footage shows the boy stopped someone to ask for directions but the police have not identified that person either.

Update Tuesday, 8:55 pm
9-year-old Leibby Kletzky has been spotted on CCTV footage walking on 44th Street in the area of 14th Avenue, after 5:00PM on Monday evening. NYPD Detectives are in possession of the footage.
The video shows Leibby walking at 5:27PM (Monday) on 44th Street towards Dahill Road. Detectives and people who know the child have watched the footage have confirmed that it is him. Footage taken three minutes later shows him at Wheels To Lease (at the corner of Dahill and 45th Street) speaking to someone – in what appears to be asking for directions and walking back towards Dahill Road.
Police are now trying to continue down the route and trying to find security cameras that may show where he went after that.
The NYPD Chief of Department Joseph Esposito has visited the scene of the command center, as well as Chief Fox, Chief Banks, and many other senior NYPD Brass. Additionally, dozens of police officers are still arriving to assist.
Volunteers are seen canvassing the entire area, searching along the streets, under cars, in alleyways, others are seen handing out flyers to cars driving at main intersections.

Update, Tuesday 2:40 pm:
As the search for Leibby Kletzky passes the twenty hour mark, volunteers from all over the New York metropolitan area are doing everything in their power to bring the nine year old home to his family. Assemblyman Dov Hikind has announced that the reward for the missing boy is now up to $100,000 as two anonymous community leaders join community members in opening their wallets in the hopes that the large sum will entice someone to come forward with information that might lead to the safe return of the child.
Shomrim is asking the community for assistance and are looking for volunteers to join the search effort this afternoon (Tuesday) at 5:00PM. If you are available, please go to the mobile command center (which has been relocated to) 61st Street between 15th and 16th Avenues.
Update Tuesday, 12:30 pm
As the entire Jewish community anxiously follows the story of the nine year old Borough Park boy who has been missing for the past nineteen hours, several anonymous Flatbush donors have followed Assemblyman Dov Hikind’s lead and are donating money to be offered as a reward for any information leading to the safe return of Leibby Kletzky, according to Chaim Deutsch of Flatbush Shomrim Safety Patrol.
With Hikind offering a reward of $5,000 and the three donors offering rewards of $20,000, $5,000 and $5,000 respectively, the reward has grown to $35,000.
Police are not ruling out foul play in the case and are refusing to comment on several leads currently under investigation.
Deutsch confirmed that the search is not heading in a positive direction.
“It is rare to have a child missing for this length of time,” said Deutsch. “Normally if a child is found and they are disoriented or helpless, they end up in a hospital, which isn’t the case here. We can’t rule out abduction. We can’t rule out him accidentally falling into a construction site.”
Several hundred volunteers, many of whom are still on scene after spending the entire night searching for the missing child, continue to scour Brooklyn for both Leibby and any leads that anyone may be able to provide in the case.
Approximately 100 to 150 volunteers are on hand today to continue the search and anyone who is able to help out can come to the command center at 15th Avenue and 57th Street in Boro Park.

Update Tuesday, 9:30 am
Hundreds of volunteers searched throughout the night for Leibby Kletzky, the nine year old boy who has been missing since 5 PM last night, when he failed to come home from the Boyan Day Camp on 44th Street between 12th and 13th Avenues.
Boro Park, Flatbush and Williamsburg Shomrim joined forces with the NYPD, including K9 and aviation units, as they combed streets, alleys and backyards in search of the missing boy, who was wearing a grey and light blue striped shirt, navy pants, black sneakers and a knapsack bearing the words “Nechmod Day Camp” at the time of his disappearance. In just hours, the streets of Boro Park have been plastered with posters of Leibby and Shomrim is going house to house in the area. Automated calls have gone out to residents asking them to check their property for the missing boy.
While initial reports indicated that surveillance cameras had spotted Leibby walking on 13th Avenue until 50th Street, careful scrutiny by Leibby’s parents have determined that he is not the boy in the video. The only confirmed video sighting of the youth is on a camera showing him leaving the Boyan Camp on 44th Street.
With the dawn of a new day, the search has intensified and volunteers are hoping that as stores open for the day they will hopefully be able to acquire more security tapes from nearby businesses that can provide more clues to the whereabouts of the missing boy. Additionally, volunteers will search stores to determine if Leibby was accidentally locked inside one of the stores.
Meanwhile, this morning Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) is offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information leading to the safe return of the nine-year-old boy.
“This is every parent’s and every community’s worst nightmare,” said Hikind. “Anyone with credible information of Leibby’s whereabouts should immediately contact the authorities. NYPD and the Shomrim are working in tandem to bring about Leibby’s safe return.”
Hikind praised the tremendous efforts of the NYPD; the Boro Park, Flatbush, and Williamsburg Shomrim; as well as hundreds of volunteers who have been combing the area searching for Leibby since last night.
“Somebody had to have seen something,” remarked Hikind. “Even the tiniest detail that may seem irrelevant to you could be a vital piece of information.”

Original Report
In a coordinated effort, Boro Park, Flatbush and Williamsburg Shomrim are conducting an extensive search tonight in Brooklyn, NY for a nine year old boy who did not come home from day camp this afternoon.
Leibby Kletzky left the Boyan Day Camp located at 1205 44th Street at approximately 5 PM this afternoon.
The missing youngster, who answers to the name Leibby, has light brown hair, black glasses and was wearing a grey and light blue striped shirt, navy pants, black sneakers, a blue knapsack bearing the words “Nechmod Day Camp” at the time of his disappearance.
Surveillance cameras from nearby businesses show the boy walking up 13th Avenue to 50th Street but there is no footage of Leibby after that point.
Boro Park Shomrim has set up a command center at 15th Avenue and 57th Street and volunteers are canvassing the area, searching stores, bathrooms and alleyways. The NYPD has been called in along with special K9 units to aid in the search. NYPD helicopters are currently in the air doing an aerial search as well.
“We ask everyone in Brooklyn to take a few minutes to walk out of their houses and search, their backyards, their driveways and their blocks,” said Chaim Deutsch, CEO Of Flatbush Shomrim, in an interview with VIN News.
Deutsch indicated that it was too early to speculate if there is any evidence of foul play in this matter. Shomrim also requested that people check their Shuls for the missing boy, paying special attention to the bathrooms.
The public is requested to say Tehillim for the safe return of Yehuda ben Ita Esther.

Well known child molester could be living in that area (45 and Dahil) by name of Avner Meir, he disappeared from Crown Heights about 14 years ago and few years ago I realized he was visiting Chabad of Kensigton. He was coming to Chabad Of Kensigton via avenue F therefore he very well might have been living in that area, whether he still lives in that area, I don’t know. But let’s check just in case.

In today’s freightening world it would be wise to implement a procedure in which all children (minor age or perhaps even those of age of majority) are implanted with a GPS system!!!
hope they had and have ppl by the surrouning borders
Please mention that our shomrim are making a kiddush lubavitch and are heavily involved in the search.
Nowhere in the article is there mention of an Amber Alert. This is usually the norm for a missing child. Did they just overlook it in the report or did they not call for one (which I don’t believe).
We should only hear good news…
This is a parents worst nightmare, I cant beleive this is happening. I pray that they will find him soon!
if you can please go to command center help is needed desperately
have they issued an amber alert??? please keep us updated.
I am a Mechuten of the Grandparents. The correct name is Yehuda ben Ita Esther.
Sometimes people are named their hebrew name, but called by the yidish version so leib is not necesarily his given name.
My grandfather A’h was Aryeh Zev and was called Laible, Rabbi Greenglass A’h Was Menachem Zev and was called Volf. These are Just some eamples of many who are called the yiddish version of their names. May this boy be found immediately. I am going right now to daven & say tehillim for his safe return.
If he is called Leibby then it is safe to assume that one of his names is Leib. So his name is probably Yehuda Leib, which is a common combination. If so, maybe we should daven for YEHUDA LEIB BEN ITA ESTHER.
Yes!! Your one kapital tehilim & even a few cents for tzedakah will help. Hashem wants our tefilas & maisim tovim.
unfortunately as of 7:30 am he was still not found. Shomrim is looking for volunteers to help search
http://www.boroparkscoop.com/2011/07/large-search-underway-for-9-year-old-child-who-never-returned-from-day-camp.html

Hopefully you are now home safely.
