Chabad activists are planning to visit frum neighborhoods in New York and New Jersey over the next 24 hours to sell chassidic seforim.
The ‘on the go bookshops’ are being organized to mark the 200th yartzeit of the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, founder of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement who authored the Tanya and the Shulchan Aruch.
8 truckloads of books were ordered by Ohr Hachassidus, an institute that spreads chassidus and the teachings of the Chabad rebbeim. It publishes the weekly booklet Likras Shabbos which is distributed in shuls and yeshivos around the world.
“There is a tremendous hisorerus in the chassidishe crowds in connection with Chof Daled Teves,” one of the organizers told COLlive.com, while overseeing signs being hung in Boro Park about the book sale.
Books will be sold in Boro Park, Williamsburg, Monsey and Monroe as well as over the phone. Chabad bochurim are volunteering their time to coordinate the large project.
“The seforim will be sold for very low prices,” one of them said. “Among the thousands of seforim, there will be Tanyas, Chassidus Mevueres, Siddurim Dach, Torah Ohr and Likutei Torah, Igros Kodesh of the Alter Rebbe and more.”
