A special event titled Chanukah Festival for Seniors will be taking place at the main shul of 770 Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights on Tuesday.
It is being organized by Colel Tiferes Zekainim Levi Yitzchok, directed by Rabbi Menachem Gerlitzky.
The event, to begin at 1:30 PM and conclude at 4:00 PM, is intended for men and women above the age of 60. The shul will be closed off for others during these hours.
The program will include cantorial renditions in Yiddish and Hebrew by Cantor Aryeh Leib Horowitz, entertainment by a boys choir and the Twins From France.
There will be Mincha davening followed by the lighting of a Menorah, a video presentation and words of strength and inspiration by Chassidus teacher Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Paltiel.
“This is a year of Hakhel,” explained Rabbi Gerlitzky. “A very special year for gathering together, as it was celebrated in the Beis Hamikdash once in 7 years.”
All seniors are welcome.
That’s something that didn’t happen in a while.
You know what, GOOD! that is what the seniors truly deserve!
Keep up your good work R. Gerlitzky. – A real Chossid.
Are we going to be able to watch it live (for those that won’t be able to attend)?
lets do it in good health and happiness

אבות פ”ה משנה כ”א
I heard that the Rebbe once asked Label Groner during a senior Chanukah rally, to find out if the senior rally is already done so he can come from Mincha. But like in the form of a question, like: are they done, or do they need more time… Something like that…
Does anybody know if that story is true?
This is exactly what the seniors need! Special attention to them specifically and showing them that we care!
Thank you Rabbi Gerlitzky for your timeless effort that you put in for our seniors. May you continue your great work in good health and happiness.
Cantor Hurwitz is an amazing person. As a cantor and as a individual. Great choice!
Much success for Tuesday! I know it will be special.

Is that the rally the Rebbe would attend?
since when is 60 years old considered a senior….people are living longer than ever in history and years ago you didn’t even receive retirement social security until 65. Now, even AARP is trying to get people to be seniors starting at age 50. If this pattern is true, then that would make a 30 year old middle aged. I know this is off topic but I’ve noticed this trend…we go straight from youth to senior…
How old is considered a senior?
So nice, like in the olden days…
Beautiful! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for posting events before hand
Wooohoooo can’t wait to see videos!
