While Yeshivos around the world are on break for the summer season, the sound of Torah continues to be heard at the Central Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim Lubavitch in Crown Heights.
Bochurim learning at 770 Eastern Parkway have kept up their studies with the encouragement of the “Yissachar and Zevulun Project” of Igud Talmidei Hakvutzah.
Three tracks have bochurim adding additional learning to what the Yeshiva requires. Among them are the Hemshech Samech Vov of the Rebbe Rashab, Shulchan Aruch Harav, and Gemara Bava Metziah.
Participants gathered this week at the dining room of the dormitory at 1414 President Street and were tested on their knowledge and grasp of the material learned.
Igud Talmidei Hakvutzah then distributed to them stipends worth thousands of dollars, according to organizers.
“With the incentive of their gashmius needs provided for, this allows them to focus on their learning wholeheartedly,” organizers said. “The purpose of the project is so that every bochur can invest all his energy in studying the Torah without having to worry about the basic living needs on his own.”
