500 Kids at Manchester Camp

A record number of over five hundred children attended Lubavitch Day Camp of North Manchester this summer.

The camp, which has three divisions for children ranging in age from 3 to 14, has seen a 10% increase in enrollment since last year. The girls camp and the 3-5 year olds moved into a larger premises at Broughton Jewish Primary School this year, to accommodate the greater number of children.

“The increase is a reflection of our non-judgemental approach,” explains Rabbi Levi Wineberg, the camp’s director, “and our acceptance of every Jewish child, regardless of their level of observance.”

Rivka Wineberg, the camp’s co-director, takes pride in the fact that the children that attend the camp represent the full spectrum of the Jewish community.

“We have children from schools as varied as King David, Bury and Whitefield, Broughton Jewish and Yesoday Hatorah, to name just a few,” she says. “They all thrive, flourish and get along with each other wonderfully.”

Some of the exciting outings this summer included Legoland Discovery Centre, Camelot Theme Park, Lightwater Valley Theme Park, Diggerland Theme Park, Aerial Extreme, Rock wall climbing, horseback riding and kayaking.
