Over 200 men, women and children attended an event marking the Hiloula of Baba Sali Ztza”l at the Maple Street Shul in Crown Heights on Monday.
The event was organized by Meir Krispine of the Merkaz Sefarad Chabad of Crown Heights, located under the Bais Levi Yitzchok Shul on Crown and Albany.
In addition to a very large and successful turnout by members of the Sephardi community of Crown Heights, guests from Flatbush, Manhattan and even Lakewood, New Jersey came to partake in this special Farbrengen and Hilloula.
The evening was chaired by Rabbi Asher Oiknine, a Chabad Moroccan Rav working in the Syrian and Sephardic community of Flatbush.
The guest speaker was Rabbi Machlouf Krispine of Netivot, Israel, grandson of the Baba Sali, who is currently in the US raising funds for his Torah network of Yeshivot and Kollels in Israel.
Rabbi Krsipine spoke about the holy work of his grandfather and the special connection between Baba Sali and the Lubavitcher Rebbe.
Following Rabbi Krispine, the crowd was addressed by the Rov of the Merkaz Sefarad Chabad, Rabbi Meir Soussan who spoke about the rich and proud heritage of the Moroccan Jewish Community and the special connection of the Rebbe to the Jews of Morocco and of his personal connection with the Baba Sali.
Rabbi Soussan implored all present to increase in their daily studies of Torah and Chassidout so that each of our grandparents and forbearers should be just as proud of each one of us, as we proudly recall the saintliness and holiness of our parents and grandparents.
Musical and liturgical entertainment was provided by Harav Kakon of the Moroccan Jewish community in Flatbush and Queens.
The Merkaz Sefarad Chabad was established by Harav S.Z. Eliezer Avtzon in 2007 and is led by the dynamic Rov, Harav Meir Soussan with daily classes in Torah and Chassidout, including separate weekly classes for women.
