ATLANTA – The red ribbon was cut last week (Tuesday Aug. 17, 2010), opening the door to the new 1st grade class at the Chabad of Georgia Chaya Mushka Children’s House (CMCH) in Sandy Springs.
The preschool expanded this year to include first grade at the urging of parents who wanted their children to continue at the Jewish Montessori School.
Head Shliach Rabbi Yossi New, Mrs. Dassie New, and Rabbi Isser New welcomed the 14 students who make up the inaugural first grade class and their parents, showed them their new school room, and cut the red ribbon.
The honor of the cutting went to Michael Farkas and his daughter Miriam who was the first to enroll in the class. Oded and Bobbi Livnat and their daughter Sivan were given the honor of hanging the mezuzah.
First grade parent Leah Sollish offered this first impression: “Walking into the classroom of the new First Grade following the ribbon cutting ceremony was breathtaking. The way the classroom has been set up and all the learning materials displayed on the shelves are an outstanding indication of the level of excellence the school is striving to achieve.”
The Chaya Mushka Children’s House is celebrating its twentieth year of operation in Sandy Springs, Georgia on the campus of Chabad of Georgia/Congregation Beth Tefillah. CMCH has been using the Montessori based curriculum for nine years, since 2001.
