Camp SOLA, located in Los Angeles California is a vital part of the ever-growing Chabad of South La Cienega which was founded in 2005. The Head Shliach, Rabbi Avraham Zajac‘s goal was to expand Jewish life on the southside of LaCienega Boulevard in the Pico-Robertson area.
In 2016 Rabbi Zajac enlisted the help of SOLA’s newest shluchim, Rabbi Avremi and Ester Chein to focus on youth and family events. That summer, the Cheins launched and directed their first year of Camp SOLA with two bunks, 18 children total.
This year, Baruch Hashem, Camp SOLA has expanded into a younger and an older division, with 160 campers and 45 staff members.
“We owe our tremendous success to the Rebbe’s brachos and of course to our dedicated staff. When we first started Camp SOLA 8 years ago, we had no idea the impact it would have on the community,” says Rabbi Chein. “What started out as a small summer program in 2016 has grown into an integral part of Jewish life for campers and staff alike.”
Mrs. Chein adds, “The inspiration from summer lasts throughout the year and we are so grateful to have the opportunity to be part of something so incredible.”
Camp SOLA is currently located in the newly renovated The Jewish Montessori Preschool campus. With the Rebbe’s continued brachos, Chabad SOLA plans to break ground this year to build a new Shul, Mikveh, and Community Center.

Watching Rabbi Avremi & Ester Chein talk to every child and every counselor in camp as their own is inspiring.
