150 young professionals from around greater New York attended a ping pong event on Monday, July 25, benefiting the educational and humanitarian programs of the National Committee for Furtherance of Jewish Education (NCFJE).
Over cocktails and a buffet, they squared off against professional ping pong players. NCFJE chairman Rabbi Shea Hecht tested his skills as well.
“Obviously no one stands a chance against these guys,” said Rabbi Chanoch Hecht of the lightening-fast pros, “it’s just nice to get everyone together to get to know each other.”
NCFJE President, Mr. Neil Kupferman, said “We are an organization that is over seventy years old. One of our biggest priorities is to get younger people involved in the organization and lead it to bigger and better things.”
A four-minute video presentation of The Released Time Program was shown.
Assemblyman Rory Lancman, himself, a graduate student of the NCFJE’s Released Time Program stopped by, played a couple of rounds of Ping Pong, and spoke fondly of his memories of The Released Time Program and thanked Rabbi Hecht for the impact it had on his life.
The event was hosted by Michelle Domb, Jason Katz and Jerry Wartsky.
