The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) announced that it is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the alleged antisemitic assault of a Jewish man in Crown Heights, Brooklyn on Thursday evening, November 11th.
As reported on COLlive.com, the incident occurred at approximately 8:15 pm when a 25-year-old visibly Jewish man wearing traditional Jewish clothing, was walking on Empire Boulevard towards Albany Avenue.
5 Black males, approximately 5’10—6’0 feet tall and wearing backpacks, approached the victim without prior interaction, police said. One of them punched the victim in the face, knocking his glasses to the ground, and calling out to him, “you dirty Jew.”
The attackers fled westbound on Empire Boulevard, turning on Albany Avenue. The victim lost sight of them on Montgomery Street, he told police.
The incident is currently being reviewed by NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force.
“We are once again reeling in the wake of a possible antisemitic attack in Crown Heights,” said Scott Richman, Regional Director of ADL in New York and New Jersey.
“These incidents have a profound impact on the entire community – causing trauma, fear, and substantial distress,” he said. “We want all New Yorkers to know that these acts will not be tolerated or ignored. We hope that this reward will bring about information that will lead to a swift arrest.”
