On Sunday, the Jewish community Chabad Berlin celebrated Lag BaOmer with a grand parade and festival in the spirit of tolerance and Jewish pride.
Over 1000 participants gathered at Adenauerplatz to join the procession to the Jewish Campus Chabad and celebrate the festive day with joy and good deeds.
Berlin minister for Education, Youth and Family Katharina Günther-Wünsch, former Federal Minister of Defence Christine Lambrecht, the parliamentary leaders of the Greens and the Left Bettina Jarasch and Anne Helm as well as the Federal General Secretary of the SPD Kevin Kühnert made it clear that Judaism is welcome in Germany.
The event was a grand statement of Jewish pride, and filled the streets of the capital with joy and love together with members of the community, residents and friends.
The message of the parade as spoken by the community chairman and Chief Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal was not only unmistakable, but above all hopeful: “it is important to bring light where there is darkness and to meet uncertainty with trust.”
