One person was murdered and 11 people were wounded, two critically, in a terror shooting attack on the Route 1 highway between Jerusalem and Maaleh Adumim, Thursday morning.
Police authorities have stated that three Palestinian terrorists were “neutralized” at the scene of the attack, which occurred near the az-Za’ayyem checkpoint.
According to initial reports, three terrorists drove close to the checkpoint on the Palestinian side and opened fire with automatic weapons at vehicles waiting in traffic. taking advantage of the large number of cars waiting during the morning rush hour. Security forces at the checkpoint neutralized two terrorists at the scene. One terrorist tried to flee the scene but searches were carried out and he was also neutralized.
The victim who was killed was identified as Matan Elmaliah, Hyd.
Elmaliah, 26, was a resident of Ma’ale Adumim. He left behind his parents, a brother, and two sisters.
Eleven people were wounded in the attack, two seriously. One of them is a 23-year-old pregnant woman who was shot in the chest.
She was evacuated to Shaare Tzedek Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery.
She is now in stable condition and according to Dr. Alon Schartz, the head of the trauma department, her life is not in danger.
Following the attack, the Shin Bet identified the terrorists as Mohammed and Kathem Zawahra, two brothers from a village in the Beit Lechem area, and Ahmed Alwassh, also from a village in the Beit Lechem area. They were armed with submachine guns, assault rifles, and one of them had a grenade on him.

Israelis need to become smart and change up their habits and catch these terrorisra and throw them in jail. It is not enough to have a gun you need to make sure you are ready and prepared at any time for these ghouls.

Every terrorist attack should be followed by a loss and annexation of disputed land which should be recognized by the UN. Terrorists don’t care about human lives including their own. Loss of land is the only punishment / deterrent that terrorists care about. Collective punishment is appropriate when the terrorist was not acting as an individual but as part of the collective Palestinian intifada, and such actions were meant to terrorize all of Israel, collectively.
