Yeshiva Tomchei Tmimim in Netanya, Israel, has taken a group of 50 bochurim for an inspirational journey to the gravesites of the Chabad Rebbes in Ukraine.
They are accompanied by the Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Moshe Orenstein and Netanya’s Head Shliach Rabbi Menachem Wolpo.
One of their stops was in the city of Nikolayev, a main ship building center of the Black Sea, and where the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson was born in 1902.
The visiting bochurim got to daven shachris in the shul where the Rebbe davened with his grandfather Rabbi Meir Shlomo Yanovski, the city’s Chief Rabbi.
Nikolayev’s current Rabbi Sholom Gottlieb also took the group through various locations of the Rebbe’s childhood, one of which was the home of the Rebbe’s parents, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak and Chana Schneerson. The building has been destroyed since, but one room was left and according some reports, it was the Rebbe’s bedroom as a young boy.
A large photo of the Rebbe is hanging there and bochurim took the time to say a prayer before moving forward with learning and farbrengens.
