After an almost two-year hiatus due to COVID, with the help of the newly appointed Shliach to Chabad of the Heights Rabbi Levi Sputz, Oholei Torah bochurim took the initiative to reinstate the Chassidus learning program at Yeshiva University (YU) where bochurim and students come together to learn.
Each Thursday, on location at Yeshiva University there’s a Chassidus program, where Yeshiva Bochurim from Crown Heights come and learn with students.
Typically starting from 10:15pm, Yeshiva bochurim come streaming off the bus straight into the Beis Midrash to learn with their Chavrusa, even going out on the street or a restaurant on campus to find a chavrusa. Once everyone settles in and finds their learning material, the room is filled with learning and energy from the beginning to end of the program.
Accompanied with sushi and refreshments throughout the learning, everyone has an opportunity to delve into the Chassidus and some even share a few words at the end for inspiration.
With such a diverse group of people from varied backgrounds, from bochurim with black hats and beards to people learning about Chassidus for the first time, it is an incredible display of Achdus.
Ohlei Torah bochurim and YU students devote their own free time late at night to spread the light of Chassidus. This achdus has a long history going back all the way to the relationship between The Rebbe and Rav JB Soloveitchik. The fact that both went to university together and that Chabad Chassidus had a big influence on Rav Soloveitchik shines a light on that deep relationship.
With the initiative taken by the Oholei Torah bochurim, the decade old program and relationship will be given a new chayus this year. This would not be possible without your assistance.
