Dr. Yoel Leviev, 24, OBM

Dr. Yoel Leviev, a 24-year-old man, passed away last night, 12 Tishrei, 5785, in a terrible car accident in Yehud, Israel while riding his electric bicycle.

Yoel was the son of Shalom Leviv, and the grandson of R’ Lev Leviv, the renowned business magnate and philanthropist and President of the World Congress of Bukharan Jews. Recently, he successfully completed his medical studies and received his degree as a doctor.

The accident occurred on Weizmann Street in Yehud when a vehicle struck Yoel while he was riding his bicycle. A Magen David Adom (MDA) team evacuated him while performing resuscitation efforts to the Sheba Medical Center in Tel HaShomer.

Health Minister Uriel Bosso, who volunteers as an emergency medical technician with MDA, arrived at the scene immediately after the accident and reported, “This was a man who was critically injured and suffered trauma to all parts of his body.”

“We provided him with medical treatment and performed advanced resuscitation efforts while simultaneously treating his injuries, and we evacuated him to the hospital, continuing resuscitation efforts as we fought for his life,” said the Health Minister.

His Levaya took place today with burial on Har HaMenuchot, Jerusalem.
