New Shluchim To Niagara Falls, USA

Niagara Falls, New York, a city known for its majestic waterfalls and breathtaking natural beauty, is about to experience a spiritual surge with the arrival of its new shluchim: Rabbi Yehuda and Yehudis Lorber who will serve the local Jewish community and visitors alike with warmth, guidance, and Torah-based wisdom providing every Jew with opportunities for Jewish learning, observance, and connection.

Whether someone is a local resident or a tourist coming to see the Falls, Rabbi and Mrs. Lorber are dedicated to making Judaism accessible, meaningful, and welcoming to all.

With the natural beauty and attraction of Niagara Falls drawing millions of visitors each year, the new Chabad center is poised to become a beacon of light for Jews passing through and for the local community.

Rabbi Lorber and his family join the Regional Shluchim of Chabad Lubavtich of Western New York under head shliach Rabbi Noson Gurary.

“After several years of running successful programs and Jewish activities in Niagara Falls with our Mitzvah Tank, the natural next step was to establish a permanent Chabad Center,” says Rabbi Lorber.

With a special permit from Niagara Falls State Park the Mitzvah Tank had access to enter and operate right in the center of the tourist attraction. Countless of Tefillin were put on and Neshek kits given out to many Jews who had a chance to hop onto the Mitzvah Tank and enjoy an everlasting moment of Yiddishkeit.

A unique Tanya was printed during The Great Solar Eclipse last spring in the Falls which drew hundreds of thousands of people.

Public Chanukah Menorahs placed at the City Hall, Niagara Falls Airport, and at the Niagara Falls State Park where a public lighting ceremony was held with hundreds of people including city officials and state representatives.

Last year during Sukkos the first ever on the American side a Public Sukkah was built right by the Falls, hosting thousands of Jews from around the world who were so thankful for the opportunity to be able to eat in a Sukkah and bentch Lulav, many for the first time. The Sukkah this year will be doubled in it’s size to accommodate all the guests.

A few more of the outstanding accomplishments over the past few years were the city’s declaration of Education and Sharing Day honoring the Rebbe on his birthday signed by the Mayor, and, the initiation of the Rebbe’s Moment of Silence program in the entire School District of the City of Niagara Falls.
