Over 150 women assembled in Sydney, Australia this past weekend, for the Australian 27th N’Shei U’Bnos Chabad Convention. The theme of this year’s convention was, ‘עוז והדר לבושה ותשחק ליום אחרון׳ ‘strength and dignity are her garb, she looks smilingly towards the future.’ The annual Australia wide event was held in honor of Mrs. Miriam bas Eliyahu Althaus obm.
Successfully coordinated by Sydney N’Shei Chabad’s Mrs. Shternie Althaus, the three day program featured international guest Mrs. Noa Lewis, Head of the IDF Chevra Kaddisha. Mrs. Chana Warlow Shill was thanked for escorting Mrs. Lewis to Australia to inspire and share raw experiences of October 7.
On Friday night at the home of Mrs. Toby Lieder, Noa related stories of courage and triumph in the face of adversity. Our hallmark – Jewish resilience, was established and extolled. The farbrengen also featured the hostess herself, world renowned shadchanis Toby Lieder, as well as inspiration from Esther Adelist.
N’Shei Chabad is grateful to the numerous ladies that generously hosted interstate guests over Shabbos, namely Mrs. Shternie Althaus, Mrs. Shaina Feldman, Mrs. Tzipporah Kastel, Mrs. Chaya Perlow, Mrs. Laya Slavin and Mrs. Dalia Chriqui.
Mrs. Dina Gourarie held the Shabbos Mevorchim shiur, that inspired, enlightened and had a tremendous attendance.
For the festive Grand Melave Malka, Mrs. Noa Lewis and Mrs. Dalia Chriqui regaled the audience. Entertainment included a tznius fashion show held by Mrs. Tzipporah Kastel and Mrs. Miriam Raskin. The evening also featured comedian Morris Kaplan. The evening concluded with lively dancing in a spirit of simcha and unity.
Sunday’s program featured Mrs. Noa Lewis, Mrs. Shternie Althaus on ‘Improving Communication in Marriage,’ Dr. Sara Rosenfeld on Moshiach UGeulah, Mrs. Toby Lieder, who gave a Shidduch Workshop, Sheina Mill, on ‘Running on Empty,’ and Mrs. Soralla Abrahams, on ‘Supporting Each other in Difficult Times.’
Markets were held and featured many local businesses. Gift bags featured N’Shei Chabad magazine, organized and prepared by Devora Leah Joseph and Talia Dayman.
At the banquet, Rebbetzin Pnina Feldman, Head Shlucha to the state of N.S.W. gave an address that inspired and entertained the audience. Mrs. Chaya Gourarie led Tehillim and Mrs. Shaina Feldman read the Rebbe’s letter. Shlucha to Newcastle Mrs. Malkie Rodal presented the keynote address and shared stories of courage and self sacrifice.
Before returning to their respective locations, such as Perth and Melbourne, participants completed hachlata tova cards, for good results and good news.
