Parsha Studio ~ Parshas Re’eh ~ Birdseed Mosaic
Hi Boys and Girls! Welcome back to the Parsha Studio!
In this week’s Parsha Re’eh, the laws of kosher fish and kosher birds are repeated for the second time, the first being in Parshas Shemini. Some may find it strange that there are specific laws about eating fish and birds. Wouldn’t it make more sense if we weren’t allowed to eat them at all? However, the idea behind these laws is that everything in this world, even animals, fish, and birds, was created to be elevated. By ensuring that they are eaten in a kosher way and by saying a blessing on them before and after they are eaten, we can elevate them and use them for a higher purpose.
Embark on an exciting art project and unleash your creativity as we delve into the world of bird feed mosaics. We will be using a captivating array of colorful grains such as wheat kernels, red lentils, green lentils, popcorn kernels, and black rice, among others, to compose a dazzling birdseed mosaic. Let your imagination run wild as you design a vibrant masterpiece that will not only be a treat for your eyes but also a nourishing delight for our feathered friends. (Rest assured, we’ve done the research, and it’s safe for birds to use Elmer’s Glue to attach the bird feed.)
