On a visit to the Rebbe in 1991, a young woman by the name of Miri Goldfarb introduced herself as “Miss Israel.” She was competing for world beauty and came to the Rebbe to request a bracha for her and her family. The Rebbe kindly explained the verse, “Sheker HaChein V’Hevel HaYofi.” He asked Goldfarb to deliver the message to all of the girls participating in the pageant. “While physical beauty is considered “false,” the following pasuk goes on to clarify that a God-fearing woman can use her beauty to beautify endeavors in Torah and mitzvos.”
