Over a thousand Jews of all backgrounds are expected in Miami, Florida, this summer for the annual National Jewish Retreat—kicking off on 10 Av, August 14.
As mounting numbers of Jews seek greater connection to their heritage and people in the wake of October 7th, JLI anticipates a record turnout.
After an incredible year in Palm Desert, California, JLI’s signature Retreat will bring five days of Jewish purpose, connection, and community—featuring 75 top presenters and 150 talks and workshops—back to the National Doral, which hosted 2022’s much-acclaimed program.
Within the National Doral’s majestic setting, participants will enjoy a packed program and a new cast of fascinating thinkers, artists, and presenters. Notable new personalities at this year’s Retreat include Dr. Yehudah Pryce, a psychotherapist who has become an inspiration to many after a teenage stint in street crime, alongside noted thinker, author, podcast host, and adjunct professor at Yeshiva University, Dovid Bashevkin.
This year’s program will reflect the concerns of Jews everywhere by focusing on the situation in Israel, featuring representatives from hostage families and Israeli government officials. The Retreat’s chairman, Rabbi Hesh Epstein, adds, “We pray that by the time of the Retreat, participants will be able to celebrate the release of all hostages and the restoration of peace.”
For shluchim like Rabbi Dovber Berkowitz of Chabad of the Delta in Brentwood, California, the National Jewish Retreat makes connecting with community members easy. His phone kept ringing after last year’s Retreat. “Thanks for inviting me to the Retreat,” one participant told him, “Thanks for turning me into a Chassid.”
Over five days of pure relaxation, Jewish immersion, and Torah learning, Jews of all backgrounds will gain a new perspective on what Yiddishkeit can be. “It’s the best retreat I’ve ever been to,” says Wendy Levenson of Agoura Hills, California. “I’m inspired, informed, and enlightened.”
